It would certainly get the ratings higher, worked round christmas!
oh, what do you thik the chances are of them having a huuge really big Mickey and Jack going undercover op where they bond and Mickey's in some trouble they're held at gun point etc.

Probably not very likely. They'll already have most of their storylines planned and they've only got two months to maybe come up with an ending

they can't end end it though, they have to leave some room if another channel pick it up *slight hint there for channel 4* But they do need a biiiiig climax, maybe they could leave it on a huge cliff hanger (with Mickey and Jack in the middle of it all)

I think it depends on if they get picked up by a different channel (which obv. I hope they do!) I'm thinking the final scene has to involve Mickey, Jack and Smithy somehow!

Then where would Smithy go? And Jo? No BBC will have to take them all

Yes you're right, they have no choice. BBC would simply have to take on the bill, or relaunch it as something new with Mickey promoted.

When I read this in the news I didn't believe it at first. Why axe a long-running show which is still as popular today as it was when it changed 27 years ago and, yes, the format has changed over the years but times change and so TV shows have to change with it, the Bill managed this effectively IMO.
I think its perfectly clear that all ITV are interested in making/showing these days is reality TV and football, persumably because these are cheaper than drama to make. It's just a shame that good quality drama has to suffer because of this.

I agree. Basically if it's not Corrie or Simon Cowell can't be at the helm they don't want it. I used to like Simon as well. I don't really follow why they're complaining about the ratings, to me 3 million viewers is still decent!

Emmerdale only got 4.4million viewers last week, maybe that should be cancelled too.
ITV are just full of crap. Come on channel 4/5/sky, you could get yourselves a well established show here!

yeah I'm really hoping someone picks it up. You'd think Channel 5 would have been right in there.

channel 4 seem to be trying to improve themselves wih decents shows, here's their chance.
Reality TV is taking over! Quite a few decent actors are out of work now. It's easier and faster to get a name in the industry going on big brother! as MAP83 pointed out ITV is just taking the cheaper easier roate out. Hopefully the public's phase of wanting reality will soon change, then they'll be stuck.
The viewers excsue was just, well and excuse. They got some of the best ratings % that night, the fact that Eastenders usually does better doesn't matter, eastenders is a soap, I thought they were trying to make The Bill a Drama. plus if the really cared about the viewing numbers they would have advertised it.
